Jim is having a conversation with the men

Les Bourgeois de Calais
is one of the most famous sculptures by Auguste Rodin, completed in 1889. It serves as a monument to an occurrence in 1347 during the Hundred Years' War, when Calais, an important French port on the English Channel, was under siege by the English for over a year.

The Burghers of Calais.
At the Rodin Museum in Philadelphia.
Photo was taken in 1944

551

Jim, a Plank Owner who later became a professional sculptor, had picked up another piece of wood to carve. Next 6 photos show a work incorporating his Wiskey plank.

These photos, taken by Jim’s son Sean, show different details of the piece.
The base is a Wiskey teak plank with dimensions 14-1/8”L x 3-1/4”W x 2” thick at its thickest point.
