Dunne, Robert M.   BM1    7th Div.   1955-1958   Date of Death 10/18/07
Phifer, Arvel           S1/C   4th Div.   1944-1945   Date of Drath  11/13/07
Received this from his Granddaughter:
Hello,
I wanted to let you know our nation lost another super hero early on Tuesday morning, November 13th.  Arvel August Phifer was 96 years old.  As I have been told, he was the oldest living veteran who served aboard the USS Wisconsin in WWII.  He had a rapid decline in his health over the past few months and he died peacefully at the Veteran’s Hospital, Hospice Unit in Richmond, Virginia.  Mr. Phifer loved his country more than anyone I have ever met.  I consider it a true honor to have him as my Grandfather for over 43 years.
May God Bless All Veterans!
Sincerely,
Gayla Phifer Stout
