I  RECEIVED THE FOLLOWING TWO EMAILS REQUESTING HELP.

If you can help, send me an email at dombb64@ptd.net  and I will send your response to the senders of the emails.

Dom Menta

Mr. Dom Menta,

Hello, I am Kevin Mcfarland, I am a Fire Controlman Second Class in the US Navy. I am contacting you because I am attempting to do some research on the USS Wisconsin, specifically on the 16 inch Guns and the Equipment in CIC. I was hoping that you would be able to get me in contact with anyone from the crew who worked with or worked on this gear. Or failing that be able to direct me in the correct path to obtain this information. Publication would be helpful as well. If there is anything you can do, I thank you in advance for your time.

Respectfully,
Kevin Mcfarland
FC2/USN

Dom –

We’re interested in getting a couple of the radar antennas on the mast platform rotating – I wonder if you could put something out to see if there are any (particularly 3rd generation) members who might have worked on those who could advise us on motors/seals/electrical connections, etc.

Thanks.

Nauticus Unveils Tribute Wall for U.S. Troops

Battleship Wisconsin serves as backdrop for unique public display

On Friday, September 23, at 9 a.m., the public is invited to attend the unveiling of a special tribute wall on the riverfront... deck surrounding the Battleship Wisconsin. The 24-foot-long chalkboard is entitled “A NOTE TO OUR TROOPS.” Visitors will be encouraged to write a note of gratitude or appreciation to those men and women serving in the armed forces. This first-of-its-kind troop memorial wall will allow grateful citizens and families of service members to record their thoughts. The messages will be photographed and catalogued on the Nauticus website,
www.nauticus.org .

“This is our great privilege,” said Hank Lynch, executive director of Nauticus. “We encourage everyone to record their thanks, thoughts and prayers for troops serving at home and abroad.”

Through November 23, visitors can record their comments at no cost each day (depending on the weather), from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. On Friday, November 11 (Veterans Day), all service members and their families will receive free admission into Nauticus to view a special photographic exhibit of the notes left behind
.
