SICK BAY

Received the following email from Charles (Chuck) Van Tornhout
It's been a while since I corresponded with you.  Maybe because I was nearly one of God's angels.  I'll make a long story short.  I knew about 15 years ago that I had a colon disease called diverticulosis.  Well, it finally got the best of me and I had to have three major surgeries since April.  They removed a good part of my colon, put an ostomy on me with a bag for waste matter, removed the ostomy recently and now I'm short about 18" of my colon, trying to regain some strength and weight.  I was in the hospital three times because I wasn't eating properly and wasn't getting any better at home.

I lost a lot of weight, down from almost 200 lbs. to 153.  I'm getting better but a nurse comes to the house twice a week to put new dressings on my wounds.  My stomach looks like I’ve been in a sword fight and lost.

Now Proud Grandpa Chuck would like to share the following with us.

My Grand-daughter who is still in the U.S. Navy is now stationed in Norfolk and is Y1C.  She has taken the exam for CPO and is waiting to hear.  She is a very intelligent young lady and the Navy is fortunate to have her in its ranks.

Chuck, stay well and keep us posted on your Granddaughter
