REUNION
2010 INFORMATION
![]()
Our reunion committee spent a few days in Oconomowoc, WI.,
finalizing the planning for our September reunion.
Following are two letters about their progress.
Next week’s Newsletter will have additional committee letters.
From Our President; Tom Bradshaw
I wanted to let all know that we have virtually completed all the reunion
planning, The only thing we have left to do is some small details of
entertainment and whatever the City of Oconomowoc will come up with in terms of
helping to facilitate our stay.
We worked throughout
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday on what the hotel is going to do for us and
met with the banquet folks to secure everything on their end. We went over just
about everything we could possibly think of for the reunion, leaving no stone
unturned. As always there are things that come up for discussion other
than reunion specific, so we probably solved the world’s problems for at least
one day...lol.
On Tuesday we met with the
Mayor and Tourism Director at city hall, this was one of the highlights of my
first visit to Oconomowoc, very, very friendly people up there. The meeting
lasted just over an hour with the city people are very excited about our choosing
their town for our reunion. I think they were fascinated with all our sea
stories. They have a great interest in helping in any way they can, even
getting the local merchants involved with some sponsorships for shuttles
to and from downtown. They also have some wonderful ideas on how the local
military organizations can help out also. We will be making a lot of calls up
to Wisconsin.
The tours schedule has been
set with the possibility of a couple of side activities if at all possible. One
idea that Bill has is that we can possibly be able to set up a night ball game
for the Milwaukee Brewers and a little extra for the tour at Great Lakes Naval
Station.
I think everyone will be
pleased with the plans and selections that have been made. The resort is in
great shape with a wonderful staff ready to ensure that we have a successful
reunion. The rest of the Executive Board will be placing articles on the
web site newsletter about our stay at the resort this past week.
Dom, you can use this as my
short article for the next newsletter.
Respectfully,
Thomas
G. Bradshaw

From; Dick Hamann, Recording
Secretary
To say I was pleasantly surprised when we reached our next reunion
site is an understatement. The Resort is located halfway between
Milwaukee and Madison. It took us 40 minutes to drive from the
airport. We found the rooms to be quite large and well cared for.
The dining room had good food with large portions and very reasonable
prices. Not like other convention hotels. The hotel staff indicates
they will do everything in their power to make this our best reunion yet.
We met the Mayor and his staff and they will work with us to make arrangements
to get everyone from and to the airport, at a minimum cost, if you do not
have your own transportation. The mayor will also work with us and the city merchants to arrange transportation from the
hotel to the downtown area. The Chamber of Commerce will also provide
assistance. Since the hotel has received quite a few requests for room
reservations, I suggest that if you plan to come, you better sign up
early. This is not a 500 room hotel in the city. We have 200 plus
rooms so don't wait. Dick Hamann, Recording
Secretary
