Milestone Birthday

Tom Bradshaw received the following email:

Greetings, Mr. Bradshaw,

I am Alexandra Honigsberg, a chaplain and the eldest of Art Farina's 4
"kids"He's about to celebrate his 75th birthday in Rockville, MD on 3/25
and I wanted to say thank-you to the association for their steadfast love
and support, over the years, especially during his big surgery and recovery
in JanuaryI am happy to report that the cancer is gone ("clean margins"),
he's doing well with 1 kidney, and no further treatment is necessary and
he's slowly getting back to himself (still tires easily, but's back to all
his life activities)The cards, letters, pictures, and calls from all his
shipmates, even ones he'd never met, meant so much to him.

I am planning an informal party for him in his hometown on that dateIf
anyone would be interested in attending, please have them call me and I'll
give them details:   (feel free to put a notice in the on-line
Badger, as Dad doesn't get on the computer...but don't put it in the print
version that he might receive...wanna surprise him...grin)It would really
thrill him to see some of his shipmates, I'm sure (cards and calls would be
fine, too), especially since he'd been too sick to go to this past year's
reunion.

Dad will always be a crewman and always says that they were among the
happiest years of his lifeThe ship and crew mean the world to him (and he
very much misses Lou -- they'd been through a lot, together), so they mean a
lot to me, too.  I proudly wear the patch and pin on my navy jacket.

I salute you all for your great work.

Sincerely,
Alexandra Honigsberg
